In writing, directing and starring in “Wadzilla,” filmmaker Adam Rifkin was reminded on his childhood, during which he watched as many movies as he possibly could, becoming a student of film out of sheer passion alone.

“Wadzilla,” a spoof on 1950s monster movies, tells the story of a man who accidentally creates an enormous sperm that attacks New York City. It is one of four vignettes featured in “Chillerama,” a horror anthology flick centered around Americas last drive-in movie theater that shows a marathon of lost film prints the night before it closes its gates for the final time.
“This was the first time of all onitsuka tiger california 78  the movies that I have made that I really got a chan

ce to make a movie that was directly inspired by the very first movies that made me love movies,” Rifkin says. “I learned how much fun that is and to keep wanting to play in that playground and make more movies that really just tap into the nostalgia of what made me onitsuka tiger running shoes love movies in the first place.”
Of course, Rifkin, whose filmography includes everything from “Detroit Rock City” and “Mousehunt” to “Underdog” and “Small Soldiers,” also appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with the helmers of “Chilleramas” other three other vignettes Tim Sullivan, Adam Green and Joe Lynch – each of whom he considers to be a good friend.
“That was a really fun part of this movie, which you really rarely get a chance to do as much as you would like to in Hollywood,” says Rifkin, recalling the legendary camaraderie between other filmmakers, such as Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas. “Obviously, we all have friends who make movies, but to actually be rolling up our sleeves together on one project was a lot of fun.”
As for the filmmakers future, Rifkin kicked off production earlier this week on a new series for a “major premium cable network” but is unable to reveal any specifics at this time. Next year, he will begin work on a movie that is “an absolute passion project of [his] from the deepest realms of [his] soul.” But that, too, remains top-secret for the time being.
“Chillerama” (NR – 120 minutes) is now available on Blu-ray and DVD at retail stores and rental outlets throughout the Valley.
